President Biden’s Israel vs. Hamas
Peace Proposal May 31, 2024
On May 31, 2024, US President Biden made
a new proposal to the Islamic organization
Hamas regarding a ceasefire and the release
of hostages.
The proposal is divided into the following
three stages:
● In the first stage, fighting will be halted
for six weeks and Israeli forces will withdraw
from densely populated areas of the Gaza
Strip. At the same time, Israel will release
Palestinians it is holding in prison, and
Hamas will release hostages, including
women and the elderly.
● In the second stage, a permanent ceasefire
and the release of all remaining hostages
will be implemented,
● In the third stage, a reconstruction plan
will be started.
On the 31st, the Islamic organization Hamas
issued a statement saying that
“It takes a positive view” of this proposal.
However, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu
said that the war will not end unless Hamas
is completely destroyed and the hostages
are released. As a result, the proposal has
not yet been agreed upon.
