The principle by which Buddha-
nature
eliminates past sins is
the same as
the principle
by which debts are cleared

Next, let me talk about what principle
Buddha-nature is based on when it
eliminates the sins or evil deeds of
your Past Lives.

When thinking in general, when
erasing past bad deeds or sins,
it often takes the form of “Vanishing
them through the Good Deeds that
the person does at the present.”

For instance, suppose you have
a large amount of debt in the past.
And now you have taken action and
paid it back.
This means that the amount you
paid back now and the amount of
the past debt are the same so they
were “written off” and the debt
disappeared.
It’s the same as that.
Your past sins and bad deeds are
“written off” and disappeared by
the Good Deeds you do now, that is,
Payment.” And it would be balanced.

However, the number of bad deeds
you have done in millions or billions of
past lives may be countless. Sins too,
they are probably just as countless as
the number of bad deeds.
Therefore, even if you perform one or
two good deeds now, it will be insufficient
to vanish all of them.
For instance, your past debt amount is
a hundred billion or a trillion dollars,
while the amount you repay now is
only a small amount, like $100 or $200.
That’s like the “Water on a hot stone.”
For example, if you drop a drop or two of
water on a big hot stone, it evaporates
immediately and the stone as a whole
does not cool down. (Image Below.)
It’s the same as that.

Therefore, to deal with countless amounts
of sin and bad deeds, we use the power of
Buddha-nature
.
Buddha-nature expands and strengthens
the amount of repayment you make now,
that is, the power of one or two Good Deeds,
and eliminates billions or even trillions of
bad deeds and sins in the past.
