3. What is the relationship
between “Disease and Self”?
The relationship between
“Disease and Self” may be a little
difficult.
“Disease” of “Living, Aging, Disease,
Death” and “Self” of “Constant, Ease,
Self, Clean” both mean “Self.”
In other words, the former
“Disease” is the “Self of Disease,”
while the latter “Self” is the
“Wholesome Self.”
In that case, the latter Self means
“The Wholesome Self that is achieved
by merging with Buddha-nature” here.
“Self” is one’s consciousness.
It is self-consciousness, in other words.
It is also the “way of looking and thinking”
that one fundamentally has.
(What is the Self of Disease?)
So let’s get into the explanation.
First, let’s think about what exactly
the “Self of Disease” is.
“The Self of Disease” is a way of looking
and thinking that prioritizes the strong.
The reason why it’s a disease is that
it is the “Self of the law of the jungle.”
It is the idea “what the strong do is right,
and the weak should obey the strong.”
“The way of thinking of this Self” has
cases that can work for bad and work
for good.
When it works for bad,
it tries to decide everything by physically
strong power, such as force or military
might, and can lead to wars and invasions.
When that happens, there will be many
casualties among civilians and soldiers.
On the other hand, when and in what
cases does this Self work in a good way?
It is when this Self obeys the
“law and rules” well, and acts without
causing trouble to other people or
citizens.
To be continued to a later date.
